Thuca Words was born after our youngest son was diagnosed with unilateral hearing loss, a condition that means he hears through only one ear. For months we searched for ways to help him develop his speech and language. Out of that need came the idea of building an app that helps young children expand their vocabulary and learn new words in a gentle, playful, and fun way.

The app combines friendly pictures, clear audio, and calm games, always with no ads and no distractions. Everything was designed around a simple principle: learning must be, above all, accessible and audible. While playing, a child learns new words, builds reasoning skills, and strengthens the bonds with their family.

We also believe that parents play an essential role in this process. That is why Thuca Words was created to be used together, turning every learning moment into an opportunity for interaction and connection.

It is designed for toddlers and pre-school children — roughly ages 2 to 6 — who are starting to learn first words. The large touch targets and picture-led design suit small hands and pre-readers.

Thuca Words supports Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French, each with word sets and pronunciations tuned to that language. You can choose the app language and the content language separately.

The app is free to start. An optional one-time premium purchase unlocks the full set of words and games. There are no ads and nothing is marketed to children inside the app. A safety gate ensures that only parents can make the premium purchase.

Yes. Thuca Words collects no personal data, shows no ads, and uses no third-party trackers. Everything runs offline on the device; the only step that needs an internet connection is the premium purchase. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.

If you reinstall the app or switch devices, open the app settings and choose “Restore purchases”. Your premium access is tied to your app-store account and will be restored at no extra cost.
